As most of you know, Youtube has been a big part of our output for several years.

Our first mixtape posted there had over three million views and our channel as a whole has over 24,000 subscribers. Cumulatively, our videos have been viewed (listened to) over eleven million times for a total of 216,000,000 minutes of viewing!

Recently, our oldest mixtape was blocked on Youtube for including a song that is not allowed for use on the channel. The thing is, the song was perfectly okay to use for the first 3+ years that the video was live on Youtube.

We understand that individual artists can and will change the usage rules for songs, and that is their right to do that. It still makes things tough when using Youtube as a platform.

More troubling is the recent trend in which songs that are okay to use on Youtube are still marked for blockage on our channel, without individual explanation of any kind. This has happened many times in the last 12 months, and is why we have reposted at least a dozen sets after removing offending tunes. We are assuming that some artists are electing to not have their songs included in compilations, but it's anyone's guess as to what the real reason is for the blocks.

By our latest count, there are at least a dozen mixes on Youtube that are blocked totally or at least in a significant part of the planet. Our "Top Hits of the 1980s" series is pretty much DOA, with at least four out of the ten videos unwatchable at this time. Many of the vids that are viewable are only that way because we have made two or three different revisions to keep them that way.

We know there are a lot of people out there that want to hear these sets, but Youtube is a challenge. In addition to the blocks, Some videos are burdened with 10-12 commercial spots during what is an average 70 minute running time. This seems excessive...

As a result of these challenges, we have elected to redouble our efforts to post these mixes on Mixcloud, a new site that has so far proven to be a haven for DJ "shows" podcasts and mixes.

As we write this, we have the first eighteen volumes posted. An additional plus to Mixcloud is that, when possible, we have released the mix in its original state, including and song(s) that Youtube may have forced us to remove over the course of the last four years. Oh, and by the way, at this point there are NO COMMERCIALS!
